What was life like for poor people in the belle epoque?

I have to write a paper on what life is like for a particular group during the belle epoque.......I can't really find any sources on the belle epoque because everything is in french. The belle epoque is generally defined as the settled and comfortable life before WWI - it's the French equivalent of that late-Victorian English world where servants scurried about while those upstairs amused themselves in a polite manner.
