Is Belle a dancing part in Beauty and the Beast?

I want to audition for Belle in Beauty and the Beast. I'm a pretty bad dancer at auditions, just because I take forever to learn the steps. But is Belle that dance-y of a part? It's the Disney version. Will my badness at the dance part of the audition completely ruin my chances?

Also, at a youth theater, how old are the Belles they usually cast? I'm 16.

Thanks!|||Oh yeah, she has a big number in "Be Our Guest" - with some Real High Kicks!

I've seen the Musical many times.

Even if you're not a dancer, give it a go, maybe the director has something else in mind and that way you don't live with any regrets too.

All the best :)|||Belle usually doesn't dance, my highschool did this performance. And she didnt do much dancing. at auditions, Dancing isnt about whether or not you can do it. Its more if you can show your character through your "dancing", or its to show the director how hard you try.

Auditions are NOT just a plain old "if you got talent, youre in"

its more of a "Do i notice that your easy to work with? Do you try your hardest? Are you respecting the directors? Okay...now what about talent?" type of a try out.

Just do your best, and show them the you are really trying. Thats the main points. But hey, Id practice from time to time. You'll want to know how to at least keep a beat to eliminate competition.

But no, Belle shouldn't be a dancing part. Depends on the director though.|||She usually does a slow dance at the end with Beast, to the song "Beauty and the Beast". But every play is different. If you're a brilliant actress, then they probably won't care much about your dancing.

16 sounds like a good age to me.|||I don't think you need to be a great dancer to get the part of Belle.

In "Be Our Guest", she dances Can-can with the company.

And in "Beauty and the Beast", she may do a slow waltz.

It's easy.
