Changing Belle to a boy in Beauty and the Beast the musical?

I love beauty and the beast and Belle is my favorite character (I personally think she has the best songs in the entire musical). If you changed Belle to a boy, Beast to a girl, and Gaston to a girl, do you think the musical would still be good. If you saw someone do a version like that, what would you think of it.|||I love genderswap productions! If they are done well they are so much fun! I think it would be great. Beast might be an "ugly betty" who noone likes, Gaston the popular and pretty girl, etc. I think if done well it would be great!

I would find it just as valid as the other way round, and would definitely watch it..|||i think that would be cool. definately a new perspective that throws a whole number of new meanings up but still the same message. very cool|||Now a days you can change anything anywhere. I think it's an interesting idea...I woudl maybe watch it if it was done right. But they'd have to change alot of the plot line.|||The name might need to be realtered-Beauty and the Beast? But, the public is always open to new ideas!|||hmm I don't think that would work as a story since we're so used to the girl = pretty , guy = ugly thing... I mean that makes more sense right?.... I personally like the musical as it is so I don't think they should make any changes ;)





(human again is also good :D)|||No, I think that would ruin the story. Seriously, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.|||This is definitely an interesting concept to say the least. Last year my high school took on One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest for our fall show, and they had the Creative Writing class make a script that reverses the sex of every character. So for the performances in which the main character was a guy, it'd be one cast, and when the main character was a girl, it'd be another cast. A much more creative way to double cast characters, and the original author of the book ecstatic at the idea, since stories revolving around women were few and far in his days of writing books. He even wanted us to come down to Arizona to perform it for him, although we had insufficient funds to do it.





But yea, we did B%26amp;TB for our spring musical this year and it'd be interesting to say the least for a role reversal. The lyrics would have to be changed and music as well, but definitely interesting.|||Oh My Goodness NO! No offense but that is just twisted and wrong!
